Mission Update

Latest update from Brayden

Dear Family,
As you may already know, I have arrived at the MTC in New Zealand! I have my first companion, he is from a small tropical island to the east of Australia, he is learning English and will be going to Guam. As for finding out if I would meet anyone at the airport, I did! I meet 2 elders and 6 sisters who will all be serving in the Wellington mission with me! All of them are from the united states. I guess there hasn’t been many Canadian missionaries to come to the New Zealand MTC so I  was told. I had gotten a picture with Uncle Donald with most of those whom I travelled with over seas, I however didn’t sit next to any of them on the plane.
New Zealand is absolutely gorgeous, it is green and the air is fresh.  I am so glad to be here serving a mission and I hope that all is well in Canada! I will talk to you soon

Love Brayden

My Great Uncle Donald came to meet me at the airport.  It was great to meet him.

Saying Goodbye... the adventure begins :-)

In an effort to keep everyone up to date on Brayden's mission experience, we have created this blog on his behalf to post pictures, and experiences he has shared with us.

Yesterday we said goodbye.  The next two years are going to be hard for all of us but we are excited to be able to use social media to share his experiences and stay connected with him.  We (his grandparents and his mother) are updating this blog on his behalf.

19 years ago... who knew the time would go by so quickly

Brayden has always been close to his grandpa... from the time he was just a tiny baby.  Brayden has lived with his Grandma and Grandpa for the last 5 years... they have been such a huge influence in his life.  Their home will feel empty for a while without him.

Brayden spent the entire day before leaving for his mission with Oscar. Took him for walks, played with him, slept with him.  When we left to the airport Oscar knew something was happening. Brayden gave him a gingerbread man cookie and he refused to eat it.  He never refuses treats... poor Oscar. He is probably wondering where is buddy went.

Another sad goodbye was to his best friend and cousin.  Alex and Brayden have been best friends from the minute they could play together and by the time they were talking they were scheming for sleepovers. These two boys have a lifetime of memories together. This was a tough goodbye.

And a final goodbye from his mom and sister. I've never seen someone so excited to start the next chapter of their life. He practically ran to through security with a huge grin on his face.  Goodbye my boy, good luck, and we look forward to posting all of your adventures here.
